Rolland John Koistinen, son of Robert Clifford Koistinen and Valda (Kalnins) Koistinen, was born August 9, 1964 at Lake Preston, South Dakota. He grew up and received his education at Lake Norden. Following his education he was employed as a farm hand in the Lake Norden area, mainly for his step-father, Quentin Olson. He received his GED and also worked in the printing business in Minneapolis. Rolland has been missing since April 4, 2010 and was found on Tuesday, April 20th north of Badger, South Dakota.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and reading. He loved animals and meeting different people.

Grateful for having shared his life are his mother, Valda Koistinen Olson of Lake Norden; two sisters and three brothers, Roberta Pedersen of Volga, SD, Marlon Koistinen and his wife Anne of South Haven, MN, Larry Koistinen of Lake Norden, Noel Koistinen and is wife Angelique of Badger, SD, Luanne Rosenlund and her husband Wade of Sheridan, WY; twenty six nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rollie was preceded in death by his father, Robert; his step-father, Quentin Olson; and his grandparents, Charley and Ida Koistinen and Olgerts and Ludmila Kalnins.
