Roma Carlson, age 90 , of Lake Norden passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, South Dakota

Funeral services will be Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:30 A.M at the Lake Norden Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 26th at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden.

Roma was born May 26, 1920 to Ethel and Oscar Legaard in Summit, South Dakota. She attended school in Summit and graduated from Summit High School in 1938. She spent one year at Northern Teachers College in Aberdeen, South Dakota and received her teaching certificate. She taught school in the Summit area for several years. Roma was united in marriage to Phillip L. Carlson on July 22, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas. The couple resided in Summit until moving to the Lake Norden area to farm in 1946. In 1962 they moved into Lake Norden.

Roma was preceded in death by her husband Phillip, her parents, one brother, two sisters and a son-in-law, Allen Loberg.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Jensen and her husband Larry of Swansea, IL, Annette Jody Loberg of Champlin, MN; one son Dennis Carlson of Lake Norden; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Adeline Grey of Aberdeen, SD.
