Obituary

Ronald G. 'Ronnie' Holter, 79, of Estelline, passed away Sunday, September, 16, 2018, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.

Ronald Gene 'Ronnie' Holter was born on November 18, 1938 in Estelline, SD, the son of Adolph and Cecelia (Bergh) Holter. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church near Bruce, SD.  He attended school at Eureka #57 and graduated from Bruce High School in 1956. Ronnie went to work for Peter J. Schweitzer for over 17 years. In 1975, Ronnie began his 3M career in Brookings until his retirement in 1994. He was united in marriage to Anitra Heyl on July 1, 1961 in Hendricks, MN. To this union the couple was blessed with five sons, Kevin, Kent, Brian, Bryce and Darin. In retirement, he drove bus for the Estelline Schools for four years.

Ronnie was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, trapping, building the 'perfect trap' and camping. He followed the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and could be found at many of the Estelline Redmen sporting events. Most importantly, he loved being grandpa, watching his grandchildren in their activities.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anitra Holter, of Estelline, SD; five sons, Kevin Holter, of Estelline, SD, Kent Holter, of Brookings, SD, Brian (Deb) Holter, of Watertown, SD, Bryce Holter, of Alexandria, SD and Darin Holter, of Estelline, SD; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; three brothers, Wes (Isabelle) Holter, of Brookings, SD, Dale (Joanne) North Ridge, CO, Myron (Sally) Holter, of Topeka, KS; two sisters, Adelpha (Leland) Reppe, of Bruce, SD and Julie (John) Anderson, of Boise, ID, one brother-in-law Ardell (Myrna) Heyl of Clayton,TX, and many nieces and nephews.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents.
