Ronald 'Gene' Kaiser, 74, of Lake Norden, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Preston Christian Church in rural Bruce, SD, and will be livestreamed on the Geise Funeral Home Facebook page. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.

Ronald 'Gene' Kaiser was born on December 14 ^th , 1945 to John and Anna Joy 'Joyce' (Krueger) Kaiser in Rock Rapids, Iowa. He grew up in George, Iowa and graduated from George Community High School in 1964. In December of 1965 he enlisted in the Army and later received an honorable medical discharge in 1966 as a Private E-2.

He worked as a mechanic in Rock Rapids, Iowa for two years, then worked as a mechanic in Huron, South Dakota for a year and a half. That is where he met Linda Fetzer and they were married the following year.

Gene and Linda had a son John Edwin and two daughters, Kristine Annette, and Lisa Marie. They lived in George, Iowa for three years where he worked alongside his father drilling water wells. The family moved to DeSmet, South Dakota where he started his own business, Kaiser Well Works. After eighteen years, that marriage ended.  He later married Karen Denison and they lived in Dempster, South Dakota until their marriage ended several years later.

Gene had a special bond with his son John, and they started working together on the well rig when John was nine years old. The two of them worked side by side for many years until John started his own well drilling business in 1998. He lived with John in Lake Norden for the last two years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years, as well as tinkering on equipment, and collecting Chevrolet Corvair cars and trains sets. He had a great sense of humor and loved pulling shenanigans on anyone he could. Most of all, he cherished his children.

Gene was proceeded in death by his grandparents; parents, John and Joyce Kaiser; his brother, Byron Kaiser; brother-in-law's, Frank 'Dutch' (Joleen) Meester, and Jerry (Joan) Steenblock; son-in-law, Brian (Kris) Graslie; niece, Anna Kaiser; and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his three children, John (Janelle) Kaiser of Lake Norden; Kris Graslie of Brookings; and Lisa Kaiser of Huron; two sisters, Joan Steenblock and Joleen Meester; grandchildren, Eric Stoddard, Kelly (Aaron) Hietpas, Alyssa Kaiser, Brooke (Haydn) Stoddard, Adam Watson, Kaitlyn Kaiser, and Jadyn Kaiser; two great grandchildren, Alyson Kaiser and Hayes Hietpas.
