Rose Marie Olson, 84, of Arlington, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Prairie Lakes Hospital, in Watertown. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Evangelical Covalent Church, in Lake Norden. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the church. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rose Marie Olson was born on April 17, 1934, in Wixom, MI, the daughter of Dell and Irene (Hautebergur) Bowers. Rose received her education in New Hudson and South Lyon Schools in Michigan. She was united in marriage to Leland Olson on June 29, 1970, in Hayti, SD. Rose worked most of her life as a cook and a chef and various universities and at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, in Tucson, AZ. She also worked at the City Café in Arlington for a number of years.

She was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Lake Norden. She was excellent cook, and enjoyed playing cards, bingo, working on crossword puzzles, playing solitaire on the computer and especially spending time with her family and friends…if they played Pinochle. She loved spending time at their cabin at Lake Poinsett where she and Leland spent many hours fishing. Going to a casino was always an enjoyable trip for Rose.

She is survived by her husband, Leland Olson, of Arlington, SD; three daughters, Vickie (Gaylord) Woods) of Brookings, SD, Frankie (Phil) Erickson, of Arlington, SD and Patricia (Craig) Dexter, of Brookings, SD; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Poland of Harrison, MI and one brother, Donald (Roslyn) Bowers of Ontario, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Linda and brother, David.
