Roselyn Elsie Sjolie, 89, of Lake Preston, SD, passed away Tuesday, June 7th at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 11 th at 2:00pm at the Lake Preston Lutheran Church in Lake Preston, SD. A visitation will be held from 1-2pm prior to the service. The service will be livestreamed on the Geise Funeral Home Facebook Page.
Roselyn was born on August 8th, 1932, in Badger, SD, the daughter of Clarence and Lillie Smith. She grew up and attended school in Badger, SD and graduated from Arlington High School.
Roselyn married Everett Malone in 1951. They were blessed with two children, Douglas and Gary Malone. She married Jerome Sjolie on June 7, 1963 and was blessed with two more children, Mark Sjolie and Jan (Sjolie) Lemme. Her children and grand/great grandchildren were the pride of her life. She was so proud of all of them and always showed them how much she loved them. She always made sure to get a kiss in with every hug and her little winks of love will be cherished forever. Love you to the moon and back was often said to her grandchildren.
Everyone will always remember Roselyn as being one of the hardest working women. At the age of 89, she finally officially retired from her tree/house spraying business. She had various occupations ranging from electrician to caring for those in the nursing home to her life long passion of Roselyn's Floral and Greenery. Her love for flowers was shown in her work, countless weddings and countless arrangements which always brought cheer and happiness to those who received them. She was the first woman elected to the city council in Lake Preston which was such an honor for her.
Roselyn is survived by her children, Douglas (Sandy) Malone of Arlington, Gary (Loretta) Malone & Mark (Penny) Sjolie of Lake Preston and Jan (Jody) Lemme of Lake Poinsett; a special friend Cornelius (Junior) Grogan; Siblings Marilyn (Darrel) Modica, Carolyn (Warren) Casper, Verlyn Devries, Eldon (Jami) Smith, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence & Lillie Smith, brother Arden Smith and husbands Everett Malone and Jerome Sjolie.
