Roylynn L. Bruinsma, 81, of Castlewood, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at Prairie Lakes Hospital under hospice care. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church in Castlewood. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 28, at First Presbyterian Church in Castlewood from 5pm - 7pm. Geise Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Roylynn Lee Tarrell was born on May 24, 1941, in Volga, SD, the daughter of Roy and Ethel (Intermill) Tarrell. She attended country school near Bruce and was a graduate of Estelline High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Robert 'Bob' Bruinsma on March 14, 1959. They began their life together working on a farm east of Estelline. They were blessed with three children, Eugene, Roxann, and Cammie. The family followed Bob's career in the elevator business. They settled in Castlewood in 1970. Roylynn worked at the Red Owl, Mack's One-Stop,  and briefly at Ida's Café.

Roylynn was an avid golfer and loved spending time with her family. She also had a love for horses. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Castlewood.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bob Bruinsma, of Castlewood; daughter, Cammie (Scott) German, Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Andrea Kemink, Austin Kemink, Kaley Pedersen, Jordan German and Shelby German; great grandchildren; Roxann Kemink, Leah Pedersen and Blake Pedersen; Brother, Keith (Jo) Tarrell of Estelline; son-in-law, Jeff Kemink; sisters-in-law, Elaine Tarrell of Brookings, SD, Mary Bruinsma, of Milbank, SD and Eleanor Wiesner of Watertown, SD along with many nieces and nephews.

Roylynn was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Eugene Bruinsma and Roxann Kemink and brother, Dennis Tarrell.
