Ruth Ann (Hulscher) Ebbers, daughter of John F. and Hildegard E. (Kranz) Hulscher, was born April 27, 1927 at Goodwin, South Dakota. She received her education at Holy Rosary in Kranzburg and graduated from Goodwin High School. After receiving her education she was employed at various jobs. Ruth was united in marriage to Paul Ebbers on January 3, 1961 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kranzburg. After their marriage they farmed near Dempster, South Dakota. Paul died on September 14, 1995. Ruth stayed active on the farm with Keith and Joe and enjoyed traveling with friends on bus trips to many places. She died on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown at the age of 87 years. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Estelline and was active in Altar Society, the church council and served as a lector. Ruth was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #184 and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, traveling and especially spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life are one daughter Janet Schultz of Watertown, SD; five sons, Dennis of Sioux Falls, David (Rochelle) of Watertown, Donald (Kari) of Clear Lake, SD, Keith of Castlewood, Joe (Kristy) of Bruce, SD; 16 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two sisters, Clarice Thyen of Waverly, SD, Helen Haan of Kranzburg, SD; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Garvin of Brookings, SD, Louise Ebbers of Bird Island, MN, Wilma Ebbers of Hector, MN; and a host of other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Paul, one son Alan, one granddaughter Melissa, her parents, and two brothers, Robert and John, Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Estelline. Visitation will be Monday from 4PM to 7PM at the church with a Scripture Service to follow at 7:00 PM.
