James and Julie (Schweitzer) Rieckman, was born June 4, 1975 in Harlingen, Texas. Her early years were spent in Chamberlain, South Dakota and when she was in high school her family moved to Dupree, South Dakota where she graduated from high school in 1993. She attended college at Northern State University in Aberdeen and also attended Black Hills State University where she graduated in 1997. She worked at the Holiday Inn in Hastings, Nebraska before her marriage to Gene Slouka on November 28, 1998 in Timber Lake, South Dakota. They moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota where she also worked at the Holiday Inn. In 1999 they moved to Watertown where she was employed as a team leader at Verifications Inc. They moved to Estelline in 2001. Samantha died on Friday, February 25, 2005 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 29 years, 8 months and 21 days. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She also served as Vice President of the Little Hearts Daycare Board. She was a past member of the Estelline Jaycees and enjoyed reading and spending time with Sydney. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Gene (Box 62, Estelline, SD 57234); her daughter Sydney Grace at home; her parents, Jim and Julie Rieckman ( 208 S Eastwood Dr, Estelline, SD 57234); two brothers, Byron of Brookings and A.J. of Estelline; her grandparents, Arnold Rieckman and his wife Janice of Jasper, MN and Paul and Joann Schweitzer of Timber Lake, SD; her father-in-law, John Slouka of Winner, SD; two brothers-in-law, Bob Peterson and his wife Sharon and Donovan Wright and his wife Renee; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Samantha was preceded in death by her grandmother Helen Rieckman, two brothers in infancy, her mother-in-law, Helen Slouka, and Genes mother, Jean Slouka.
