Sharon Rae Reed, 84, of Artesian, South Dakota, passed away on June 14, 2024, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, South Dakota, with her husband and loved ones by her side. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Preston Christian Church near Bruce, South Dakota. A visitation will be held the night prior, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Preston Christian Church near Bruce, South Dakota.

Sharon (DeBoer) Reed was born to Earl and Blanche (Goodfellow) DeBoer in Volga, South Dakota, on July 5, 1939. Sharon accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and was baptized into Christ in 1950. Sharon graduated from Estelline High School in 1957 and attended Dakota Bible College.

Sharon married the love of her life, Kenneth Reed, on August 24, 1959, at Preston Christian Church near Bruce, South Dakota. They were blessed with five children: Shawn, Gerald, Michelle, Beth, and Angela.

Kenneth, Sharon, and their children served with churches in Brookings, South Dakota, from 1959 to 1964; Sioux Falls, South Dakota, from 1964 to 1971; Alexandria, Minnesota, from 1971 to 1973; Bismark, North Dakota, from 1973 to 1977; Bethel, Missouri, from 1977 to 1988; Yankton, South Dakota, from 1988 to 1990; Team Expansion internationally in South America and Europe from 1990 to 1995; Watertown, South Dakota, from 1995 to 2006; and Diamond Willow Ministries in Fort Thompson, South Dakota, from 2006 to 2014. While ministering, they continued to farm near Artesian, South Dakota. They retired from ministry in 2014 to live on the family farm, where Kenneth continues to farm, enabling them to support various churches and ministries. Sharon was an active member of Huron Christian Church.

Sharon cared for their five children and several foster children. She served by teaching in Sunday School, Junior Church, Vacation Bible School, and Ladies Bible Study, as well as playing the piano and organ for church and teaching piano lessons. As a farmer's wife, she operated tractors, trucks, and combines.

Those left to honor Sharon's memory are her husband, Kenneth, and their children: Shawn (Annalisa) Reed of Bruce, South Dakota; Gerald of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Michelle (Mike) Brouk of Manhattan, Kansas; Beth (Wade) Landers of Joplin, Missouri; and Angela (Todd) Owen of Joplin, Missouri. She was blessed with twenty-five grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and many more to come. Her sister, Janice (Roger) Saathoff of Bruce, South Dakota. Her brother-in-law Alvin Reed of Lincoln, Nebraska, and sisters-in-law Kay Reed of Joplin, Missouri, and Lila Mosier of Vancouver, Washington.

She is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Blanche DeBoer, parents-in-law George and Josie Reed, daughter-in-law Mary Reed, brothers-in-law Don Reed and Lauren Mosier, sister-in-law Mary Inez Reed, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Sharon will be deeply missed, never forgotten, and always loved. She wants everyone to know that Jesus loves them!
