Shirley Ann (Williams) Blumke, daughter of Loral 'Bob' and June (Dotson) Williams, was born December 24, 1935, at Milbank, South Dakota. After spending her childhood years in Milbank, she was united in marriage to Harley Blumke on May 12, 1952, in Wichita Falls, Texas where Harley was stationed in the Air Force attending aircraft mechanic school. They returned to the family farm near Estelline in the spring of 1954, and have resided there since. Shirley died on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 27 days.
She was an active member of Hidewood Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and had also served as the Ladies Aid president. Shirley enjoyed singing, all kinds of music and baking for others.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Harley of Estelline; their four children, Kandy of Estelline, Gene Blumke and his wife Judy of Henry, SD, Jeanne Eclov and her husband Dan of Volga, SD, Craig Blumke and his wife Sandy of Brookings; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Minahan and her husband Richard of Pleasant Hills, IA, Marilyn Tassler and her husband David of Vergas, MN; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Betty Guenther.
