Shirley Mae Linneman was born to Otto and Johanna Lamberg on December 11, 1927 in Brookings, South Dakota.
Shirley attended country school until 8th grade near the Blumeyer Farm. To attend high school in Estelline, Shirley had to walk a mile north to get on the bus during the War years. After high school graduation in 1945 Shirley attended Nettleton business school in Sioux Falls, SD. After her education was complete, she was employed at the Farmers State Bank in Estelline, SD as a teller, if she wasn't calling in ''sick'' to ride in the gas truck with Don.
On May 24, 1948 Shirley married Don Linneman at St Francis De Sales Catholic Church. They began farming after they wed and moved to their home of sixty-four years near Dempster, where they raised their family. In the winter of 2021, they moved to the Estelline Nursing and Care Center.
Shirley enjoyed bird watching, playing the piano, embroidering beautiful tablecloths, crocheting doilies, and keeping track of Don in the field and the fishing boat. Don and Shirley were fortunate enough to take several bus trips and Co-op trips, but their biggest adventure was raising their three children. Shirley enjoyed collecting souvenir spoons from her adventures and her kids and grandkids also brought her spoons from their adventures too.
Shirley is survived by her children David (Susan) Linneman, Diane Pecheny, and Douglas (Nancy) Linneman and their grandchildren Krista, Sarah, Megan W., Jake, Rachel, Kelly, Megan H, & Alan and many great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Don of 76 ½ years, her parents, Otto and Johanna, two siblings, Darlene and Maxine, her son-in-law Henry Pecheny, and many brother and sister-in-laws.
Her family would like to thank the ENCC staff for their compassionate and loving care.
