Shirley A. (Hofer) Thue, daughter of Alvin and Beulah (Nessan) Hofer was born March 10, 1944 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They moved to Lake Poinsett in 1954 and she attended school in Lake Norden, graduating from Lake Norden High School. Shirley attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls for two years and then received her Bachelors Degree from General Beadle in Madison. She was united in marriage to Robert Thue. Shirley later received her Masters Degree from the University of South Dakota and taught elementary school in Arlington, Madison and Yankton before retiring due to ill health. She lived in the Castlewood Assisted Living before moving to Golden Living Center in Lake Norden in December of 2012. Shirley died there on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the age of 69 years. She attended the American Lutheran Church while living in Castlewood. Shirley loved music, singing, reading and going camping in her younger years. She is survived by her daughter Sophia Tramp and her husband Glen of Crofton, NE; son Jed Thue of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Andrew and Kirsten; her siblings, Kathy, Bill and Tim Driscoll; and a host of other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden. Burial will be in the Danish Lutheran Cemetery, rural Badger. Visitation will be held one hour preceding services on Wednesday.
