Stanley A. Hyde, 68, of Lake Poinsett passed away on February 11, 2016 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, after a brief battle with cancer. His Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2016 at the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood, SD. Geise Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Stanley Arthur Hyde was born on April 18, 1947, the son of Daniel and Violet (Clausen) Stoltz. He grew up in rural Castlewood and attended Castlewood Public Schools, graduating in 1965. He went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Teaching from General Beadle Teaching College. After teaching industrial arts for several years he purchased the meat locker in Castlewood, which he ran until his retirement in 1995. He then spent his time guiding hunters, going fishing, and running a small cattle operation.
Stanley is survived by his son, Justin Hyde and his fiancé Leah Brink, of Brookings; two daughters, Amy (Hugh) Weber, of Sioux Falls and Tami Bradley of Salina, KS; six grandchildren; three brothers, Gary (Sharon) Hyde, Doug (Lois) Hyde, Roger Hyde; two sisters, Lori (Nick) Galati and Lisa (Steve) Janssen; and a host of other relatives.
Stanley was preceded in death by his father, Daniel; mother and adopted father, Violet and Roland Hyde; wife, Vicki; and son, Brian.
