Stefan Tomas Kemppainen, son of Mikael and Renee (Kopman) Kemppainen, was born August 31, 1999. Stefan resided with his family in Battle Ground, Washington. He died on Saturday, July 2, 2011 in a small plane accident along with his 11- year-old 2nd cousin Sawyer Kopman and Sawyer's dad, Clark Kopman, the pilot. Stefan was baptized as a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. He so loved his family and friends and everybody. His desire was that everyone he knew could share his faith and someday go to Heaven, as he now has. Stefan's favorite activities were snowboarding, jumping on the trampoline, basketball, playing ping pong and being with his friends and family. Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Mikael and Renee Kemppainen and his siblings, Colin, Alex, Derek, Katrina and Sofia Kemppainen all of Battle Ground, WA; his grandparents, Dale and Jeanie Kopman of Hayti, SD, Toini and Lauri Kemppainen of Windsor, Ontario; a great grandmother Bertha Kysar of Battle Ground, WA; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two cousins, Laurel Smith and Ashley Kopman; and three aunts, Katarina, Johanna and Melissa Kemppainen. Visitation will be 5PM to 8PM Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Lake Norden. Stefan's funeral in Washington will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Battle Ground with the visitation from 5PM to 8PM Wednesday at the church.
