Steven Lee Saathoff, 64, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD after a long, courageous battle with cancer. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Estelline Community Church in Estelline, SD. A Visitation will be held the day prior from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.

Steven Lee Saathoff was born on March 26, 1960, the son of James and Frances (Hawley) Saathoff. He grew up in Estelline and graduated from Estelline High School, class of 1979. Steve enlisted in the SD Army National Guard in 1978. SP5 Steve Saathoff of the 741st Trans Co received honorable discharge in 1984. After high school, Steve worked at various concrete flatwork companies before settling in Sioux Falls. He was then employed at Ace Ready Mix for 10 years followed by 24 years at Ace Signs where he installed and serviced signs.

On October 4, 1986, Steve married Dawn Stroschein in Estelline, SD at the United Church of Christ. To this union, two children were born; Michael and Megan. Steve was a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather who cherished time with family. His granddaughter's laughter brought him great joy. Steve showed us the value of hard work, the importance of patience and doing things right. Steve's love was often displayed through his actions and found great pride in providing a helping hand to his children. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, had a love for classic cars, Nascar and thrived working on projects around the house. Steve was incredibly handy and had the drive and ability to take on any task.

Steve is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dawn Saathoff; his two children, Michael (Ashlyann) Saathoff and Megan (Joe Sullivan) Klueber; grandchildren, Layla and April Saathoff; siblings, Carol (Marv) Reihe and Herb (Donna) Saathoff; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loyal fur companion Marley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Frances (Hawley) Saathoff; siblings, Donald and Ray Saathoff.
