Obituary

Theodore 'Ted' H. Homola, 82, of Hazel, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Prairie Lakes Hospital, in Watertown, SD. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 3, 2018, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, near Lake Norden. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00 am. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Theodore Henry Homola was born on April 24, 1936, in Gackle, ND, the son of Kaarle 'Charlie' and Esther (Bellikka) Homola. He attended school through the 8th grade and worked various odd jobs until he was drafted into the US Army in 1958. He was honorably discharged in 1960 and was united in marriage to Ann Wilen on December 24, 1960 in Gackle, ND. The couple was blessed with four children, Teresa, Sheldon, Kim and Brian. Ted worked a variety of odd jobs before he completed drafting school. He began working for Rheem National, in St. Paul, MN, as a draftsman. He would later move his family to Vancouver, WA, where he worked at Columbia for a number of years, before moving his family to Owatonna, MN, where he served as a engineer and production manager for King Company until his retirement in 1998. In 2005, Ted and Ann made their retirement home in Hazel, SD.

Ted was a lifetime member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. He cherished his family and Christian friends, and enjoyed the time he shared with them.

He is survived by his wife Ann Homola, of Hazel, SD, four children, Teresa (Larry) Schwartz, of Owatonna, MN, Sheldon (René) Homola, of Willow Lake, SD, Kim (Donald) Barnett, of Waseca, MN and Brian (Lori) Homola, of Watertown, SD; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert (Hazel) Homola of LeCenter, WA and George (Kathleen) Homola, of Brush Prairie, WA; two sisters-in-law, Anna Marie Homola, of Belle Fourche, SD and Marilyn (Homola) Wilen, of Lake Norden, SD and many nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lathy (Gene) Bennett and five brothers, Calvin, Norbert (Alberta), Norman (Esther), Kermit and Andrew in infancy.
