Verna Hopkins Walsh Watertown, South Dakota Graveside Committal Service 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 7, 2006 Castlewood Cemetery Castlewood, South Dakota Verna V. Goldhorn, daughter of John and Gepta (Martin) Goldhorn, was born September 29, 1925 at Castlewood, South Dakota. She grew up and received her education there and was united in marriage to Russell Hopkins on August 21, 1943 in Watertown, South Dakota. They farmed near Castlewood until Russell?s death on November 17, 1956. She then moved into Castlewood. Later she and her sons moved to Watertown and she was united in marriage to Emmett Walsh on December 22, 1966 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Watertown and after his death on September 24, 1976 Verna began working at Prairie Lakes Hospital until her retirement in the late 1980?s. She continued to make Watertown her home. She died on Tuesday, July 18th, 2006 at her home in Watertown at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 19 days. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, being outdoors and was a big NASCAR fan. Grateful for having shared her life are three sons, David Hopkins and his wife Ann of Billings, MT, Dean Hopkins and his wife Sharon of Cool, CA and Daryl Hopkins and his wife Linda of Watertown; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Verna was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents and three brothers, Jack, Hank and Gordon.
