Viola Matilda (Efraimson) Halling, daughter of Hjalmar and Jennie (Koistinen) Efraimson, was born January 26, 1923 on a farm near Lake Norden, South Dakota . She attended elementary school at Cleveland #4 and Bryant High School before graduating from Watertown Business School in 1942. Vi worked at Bartron Clinic in Watertown 7 years. She was united in marriage to Royce Halling on September 20, 1947 and they were blessed with 8 children. After living in Sioux Falls several years, Royce retired and they moved to rural Lake Norden. She sincerely welcomed and enjoyed spending time with her family and Christian friends. She was a baptized, confirmed and lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in rural Lake Norden . She attained her Sabbath rest on Thursday, December 22, 2011. Grateful for having shared her life are four sons and their wives; Gregory and Ritva Halling of Webster, MN, Dale and Carolyn Halling of Bryant, SD, Douglas and Nancy Halling of Duluth, MN, Michael and Valerie Halling of Lake Norden, SD; three daughters and their husbands, Lynne and Billy Reddig of Kalispell, MT, Kathy and Robert Kaski of Hayti, SD, Debra and Thomas Foley of Lake Norden, SD; 45 grandchildren; 71 great grandchildren; one sister Elaine McDaniels of Bryant; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Royce, a son David, a grandson David Halling, a great grandson Lason Wirtanen, her parents, two brothers, Wesley and George Efraimson and one sister, Velma Harrison. Her funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, rural Lake Norden. Visitation will be from 5PM to 8PM Tuesday at the church.
