Violet M. 'Vi' Andrews, 91, of Lake Norden, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2019, at Lake Norden Care and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden. Visitation will be from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden.

Violet Mae Andrews was born on May 23, 1927, in Hamlin County, SD, the daughter of Andrew and Dena (Olson) Andrews. She was baptized at Garfield Lutheran Church and confirmed on Aught 14, 1967 at First Lutheran Church in Lake Norden. Vi spent her early years and received her education at Cleveland #4 in Hamlin County. She continued her education in Aurora, CO, where she earned her GED certificate and credit in accounting. She was employed at the Antonen Café in 1946, and became a partner with her sister in the Café in 1950. She became sole owner after the illness and death of her sister in the 1980s. She renamed the business, Andrews Café and continued to operate the Café until 1992.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden, and a charter member of the VFW Auxilliary. Vi also enjoyed playing the accordion, starting out with a Button Key Accordion her uncle Julius won in a card game. She later played Piano Accordion with her family band. Over the years she also played with "Natural Four" of Lake Preston, Verna Green's "Young at Heart" band as well as 'Woody and the Country Gals" band. They played at many nursing homes and assisted living centers.

Vi is survived by two sisters, Jane Espland, of Lake Norden and Hope Clark of Hayti, SD; two brothers, Elwood (Gayle) Andrews, of Lake Norden, and James (Marla) Andrews, of Lake Preston, SD; one sister-in-law, Janet Andrews, of Lake Norden, and her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Earl, John, Roger, Alfred and Franklin; two sisters, Irene and Esther and three brothers-in-law, Bill Antonen, Francis Espland and Larry Clark.
