(Saaranen) Isaacson, daughter of Fred and Jenny (Thompson) Saaranen, was born July 23, 1916 on a farm near Lake Poinsett, South Dakota. She grew up in the Lake Norden area and attended rural school. As a young woman she worked at an insurance agency in Sioux Falls and was united in marriage to Earl W. Sonny Isaacson on December 31, 1947 in Watertown, South Dakota. After their marriage they farmed east of Lake Norden. Sonny died on December 1, 1993 and Virgie continued to make her home on the farm until entering the Homestead Assisted Living in April of 2003. She died on Monday, September 19, 2005 at the Beverly Healthcare in Lake Norden at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 26 days. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church and was active in ladies church groups. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and enjoyed cooking and baking bread and treats for her family and friends. Grateful for having shared her life are one son Stephen Isaacson and his wife Terri of Boise, ID; three daughters, Julaine Isaacson of Northville, MI, Earleen Walter and her husband Tom of West Des Moines, IA and Pamela Hein and her husband Larry of Surprise, AZ; a daughter-in-law Cindy Isaacson of Roseville, MI; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one brother Clayton Saaranen and his wife Nat of Largo, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends. Virgie was preceded in death by her husband Sonny; one son Randy in 1984; her parents; 4 brothers, Douglas, Gerald, Russel and Gordon; and 1 sister Faye.
