Virginia Kemink Heemeyer, 93, of Castlewood, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Hamlin Reformed Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Castlewood.

Virginia Jungers was born on July 31, 1924 in Appleby, SD, the daughter of Frank and Katherine (Hurkes) Jungers. She attended country school near Appleby and was a graduate of Castlewood High School. After graduation she went to work at the Ammunition Plant in Watertown, SD. She was united in marriage to Raymond Kemink on July 3, 1946, at Hamlin Reformed Church. The couple began farming and Virginia could always be found working with Raymond. They were blessed with five children, Raymond Jr, Randall, Deborah, Rodney and Jeffrey. Raymond Sr. passed away on March 9, 1978. Virginia married Melvin Heemeyer on January 16, 1988. Melvin passed away on May 17, 2015.

Virginia enjoyed reading cook books as well as cooking, camping, traveling and playing cards. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Hamlin Reformed Church.

She is survived by her four sons and their spouses, Raymond and Kathy Kemink, of Spokane, WA, Randall and Sally Kemink, of Poughkeepsie, NY, Rodney and Sherri Kemink of Castlewood, SD and Jeffrey and Julie Kemink, of Bloomington, MN; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; four step children; 11 step grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Raymond Kemink Sr. and Melvin Heemeyer; one daughter, Deborah; one grandchild, Savannah; two brothers, John and Francis; sister, Elizabeth and daughter-in-law, Roxann Kemink.
