Wally G. Quiram, 75, of Lake Norden, died peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Geise Funeral Chapel, in Lake Norden, with a private family burial to follow.
Wally Gene Quiram was born on July 22, 1942 at his grandparents' home between Wolsey and Wessington, SD. He grew up on a farm west of Wolsey and attended school in Wolsey until 1958. He moved to Huron and graduated from Huron Senior High in 1960. Wally worked for a lumber yard after graduation. He served in the National Guard with the 153rd Engineers, based in Huron. He then started working for Huron Steel Structures, where he began to learn the concrete finishing business. He worked concrete for Whites Concrete Construction and Larsen Concrete. He was an excellent concrete finisher. He was united in marriage to Sharon Whites on July 5, 1968 in Huron, SD. After moving to Lake Norden in 1973 he continued in the concrete business until 1992. He then began working in general construction until he retired in 2014. After his retirement, he enjoyed doing odd jobs for his family and friends. He also enjoyed making yard art, reading western books and watching movies. He was a holiday decorating fanatic! Wally was meticulous in every project he did, always seeking perfection.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of Lake Norden, SD; his children, Mark Quiram, of Sioux Falls, SD, Roxanne (Karl ) Humphrey, of Chamberlain, SD, Darrin (Stacey) Quiram, of Hayti, SD, LeAnne (Tracy) Johnson, of Bruce, SD, Kandy Muilenburg, of Watertown, SD, Ben West, of Watertown, SD, Cindy Tormanen, of Badger, SD, Alan (Peg) West, of Watertown, SD and Olen West, Jr, of Watertown, SD; 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, two sisters, Judy (Mike) Kalahar, of Huron, SD and Jill Anderson, of Huron, SD and one brother, Doug (Deb) Quiram, of Aberdeen, SD.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian Quiram; two sisters, Shirley Brake and Diane Thompson; brother-in-law, Russell Thompson and father and mother- in-law, Harold and Dorothy Whites
