William Kermit Huumala was born to Dean and Susanna Huumala on September 20, 2006. On August 20, 2026, William was called to his heavenly home at the age of 19 years and 11 months due to a work related accident. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lake Norden, SD. Interment will immediately follow at the Apostolic Lutheran Cemtery in Lake Norden. A Visitation will be held the night prior from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lake Norden.
William was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church and his greatest gift was a living and saving faith upon our Lord Jesus. He attended school at the Hamlin Education Center, Watertown High School, and Lake Area Technical College, graduating in 2025. William enjoyed his work at Sentry in Watertown and touched the lives of many of his co-workers. On April 10, 2026 William married Chelsea Lynn Kelley (Cliff and Brenda) and they cherished the four short months they were able to spend together. William’s warm smile and caring nature will be deeply missed. William loved children, connected easily with them and was looking forward to their baby’s arrival next January.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Chelsea, parents Dean and Susanna of Hayti, SD, siblings; Paul (Rachael) Huumala of Battle Ground Wa, Benjamin (Jaana) Huumala of Battle Ground Wa, Joshua (Alesia) Huumala of Battle Ground Wa, Emily (Leland) Carlson of Hayti SD, Garret Huumala of Hayti SD, Rebekah Huumala of Battle Ground Wa, Krista
(Douglas) DoBrava of Battle Ground Wa, Daniel, Karina, Samuel, Annika, and Jacob Huumala all at home, grandmothers Marilyn (Lance) Wilen of Lake Norden SD and Toini Kemppainen of Kiruna Sweden, as well as a host of friends and relatives.
William was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Kermit William Homola, and Lauri Kemppainen.
