William Walter "Bill" Licht, son of Walter and June (Loats) Licht, was born July 15, 1958 at Volga, South Dakota. He grew up on the family farm northwest of Estelline and graduated from Estelline High School in 1976. Bill attended Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown for two years. He was united in marriage to Lisa Grassel at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown on June 13, 1981. He worked as a carpenter and also farmed with his mother on the family farm. Bill held various agricultural positions throughout the area and had most recently worked with J&R Feeds at Lake Norden as a truck driver. He died on Sunday, January 18, 2015 in Estelline at the age of 56 years. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Estelline and a member of the Brookings Chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Bill was a Vikings Football fan and enjoyed playing card games, golf and loved to support the Estelline Redmen athletics. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Lisa of Estelline; three sons, Tim and his wife Laura of Fedora, SD, Andrew and his wife Sarah of Volga, SD, Josh and his wife Tiffany of Mesa, AZ; one daughter Abby Licht of Brookings; three grandchildren, Maci, Grayson and Sullivan; one brother Paul of Sioux Falls; four sisters, Patsy Weber and her husband Wallace of Brandt, SD, Diana Buchholz and her husband James and Joyce Poppen and her husband Lyle, all of Estelline, Joan Scheidegger and her husband Donovan of Huron, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his father and mother-in-law, Francis and Loretta Grassel. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, January 22, 2015 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Estelline. Visitation will be from 5PM to 7PM Wednesday at the church with a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM.
