William L. Sturm, son of Albert and Marion (Ash) Sturm, was born April 17, 1938 at Cedar Falls, Iowa. He grew up and received his education and graduated from Cedar Falls High School. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force from January of 1957 to March of 1959 and after his discharge was united in marriage to Betty Joerger on September 30, 1961 in Waverly, Iowa. They moved to Sioux Falls where he worked as an electrician for IBEW Local #426. His employment took him to many locations in the United States where he worked on various jobs as a supervisor or foreman. In 1980 they moved to Lake Poinsett where he was very proud of the fact that he and his family built their home located on the east shore of the lake. He retired in 1990 due to a disability. He died suddenly on Monday, May 28, 2012 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown at the age of 74 years. He loved to have his grandchildren visit at the lake and also enjoyed carpentry. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Betty of Lake Poinsett; three children, Tim Sturm and his wife Theresa of Soldotna, AK, Jeff Sturm and his wife Jane of Battle Ground, WA, Shawna Stroschein and her husband Todd of Clear Lake, SD; seven grandchildren, Michael, Timmy, Britney, Linda, Erica, Allison and Nicole; one brother Robert Sturm and his wife Maryl of Cedar Falls, IA; one sister-in-law Eldora Sturm of Cedar Falls; and a host of other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Don. His funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Friday, June 1, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline. Visitation will be 4PM to 7PM Thursday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.
